Who is your law big sister?

She’s your calm in the chaos — helping you understand, prepare, and feel supported through every step of your legal journey. The one who shows up for you and tells you the truth when no one else will. That’s what we mean by your law big sister.

How we help.

Six pathways through the most difficult chapter of family life — each delivered with the professionalism and the warmth of a trusted sister.

i.

Child Arrangements

Contact orders, parenting plans, and child arrangement applications — for parents who have tried everything and still can’t see their child. We have brought children home through the courts when nothing else worked.

Confidential & Privileged

Three things every client gets.

The promises we’ve held to since day one. Not a slogan, not a strapline — the working philosophy of every case we take.

i.

Listen

You tell your story before we say a word about strategy. The first conversation isn’t a sales call — it’s a chance for us to understand what you actually need. Anxiety, jargon, and confusion are met with patience, not a stopwatch.

ii.

Advocate

Quietly tenacious. Sharp in court. Honest about outcomes. We see through hostile exes, coercive tactics, and tactical delay. We will not waste your money or your time chasing a result that isn’t realistic — and we will not back down from one that is.

iii.

Protect

From the first call to the final order, you are safeguarded — emotionally, financially, legally. Every step documented. Every decision yours. The most vulnerable clients become the most fiercely defended.

Why Big Sister

Heart-led counsel.
No-nonsense in court.

  • i.

Solicitors and Mediator Under One Roof

Rare in family law — Big Sister handles your mediation, and if required your legal drafting can be handled in one firm, with one fee, one team, and one consistent voice. No referrals, no hand-offs, no surprises.

  • ii.

    Fixed-Fee Transparency

Every package quoted up front. No hidden fees, no padded hours, no creeping invoices. You know the total cost before we start work.

  • iii.

    Backed by a Regulated Firm

Your Law Big Sister is based in a fully regulated firm of solicitors. Every conversation is privileged. Every step is documented to the standard the court expects.

  • iv.

    Empathy Without Apology

Family law is hard. We will not pretend otherwise. What we promise is that we listen, that we explain, and that we fight — both quietly and professionally — for the outcome you need.

Access to Justice

Fixed-Fee Packages.

We understand that full legal representation isn’t always financially possible. We believe access to justice should be available to everyone.

Although we’ll always recommend full legal representation wherever possible, we’re committed to making professional legal support accessible — whatever your circumstances. For clients who choose or need to represent themselves in court, we offer a range of fixed-fee support services backed by Haleys Solicitors.

You can book full legal representation and counsel through us in the family department at Haleys, or have us review documents to a professional standard on a non-representation fixed-fee package basis. Two routes, one standard of care.

Our Method

The court is the last room you walk into — not the first. Our work is to do everything possible, before that door opens, so that you walk through it on your terms, or never have to walk through it at all.

01

Listen

A free, confidential consultation. We hear your story before we say a word about strategy. No clock running.

02

Plan

A fixed-fee proposal that lays out exactly what we'll do, when, and what each step costs. You decide what to instruct.

03

Mediate

Where possible, we mediate — quietly, confidentially, often online. Most cases settle here. Quickly, fairly, finally.

04

Protect

We draft. We file. We finalise. Your agreement made legally binding, your future protected, the door closed behind you.

In their own words.

Real reviews from clients we’ve walked through divorce, child arrangement proceedings, abuse cases, and care hearings. Initials only — their privacy is sacred. Their stories are theirs.

Meet Ella

Family law isn’t just my job — it’s my passion. I’ve dealt with abusive and coercive exes, supported terrified mothers, helped fathers get contact after years of denied access, and helped in care proceedings when families were about to lose everything. I began Your Law Big Sister to make those going through family law — just like I did — feel supported, and to help them understand the processes that can be so confusing. Anyone who walks through these doors knows two things on day one: they will be heard, and they will be fought for.”

The Paper Trail.

An accountability journal for modern co-parents. Written by Ella Simone Hall.

After working closely with families and hearing the same concerns repeated again and again — missed visits, unpredictable handovers, communication that only happens when there’s conflict — Ella designed The Paper Trail: a practical tool that helps parents stay organised, informed, and prepared without feeling overwhelmed.

When co-parenting becomes stressful, the details get lost. The Paper Trail creates a reliable timeline you can return to — for your own peace of mind, or for future legal discussions if it comes to that.

  • Track parenting time Missed visits, late exchanges, cancelled plans, schedule changes — all in one organised place.
  • Log shared financial expenses Medical costs, school fees, childcare payments, and shared responsibilities documented clearly.
  • Document important incidents Major concerns, disagreements, or behavioural patterns recorded with dates and notes for future reference.
  • Reflect on your co-parenting journey Guided monthly check-ins that encourage accountability, communication, and child-focused decision-making.

Common Questions

Things clients ask us.

If your question isn't here, ring us. We answer the phone, and the first conversation is always free.

  • Nothing. Your first 15-minute call with us is free and entirely without obligation. We use it to understand your situation, explain your options, and give you a fixed-fee quote — so you can make an informed decision before instructing anyone.
  • Absolutely. Some of our most successful cases have been securing contact orders for fathers who had been denied access to their children for years. We take instructions from any parent or guardian acting in good faith and in the child’s best interests — the merit of your case is what matters, not your gender.
  • In most family cases, yes. Since April 2014, attending a Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting (MIAM) is a prerequisite for most court applications. There are exemptions — including domestic abuse and urgency. While Your Law Big Sister doesn’t conduct MIAMs directly, we can signpost you to an accredited MIAM provider and pick up joint mediation sessions with you afterwards.
  • Yes. Non-molestation orders, occupation orders, and emergency child arrangement applications are part of our day-to-day work. Where the situation warrants it, we can file within 24 hours of instruction and seek a hearing without notice to the other party. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 first — then call us.
  • We work within a Solicitors firm. We are a family law consultant who works alongside an experienced team of solicitors and in-house counsel. And the great thing? We all work together. We can mediate your case, complete necessary casework, draft the legal agreement that follows, and instruct counsel to represent you in court if it comes to it — all under one fee, one firm, one team. Some clients never see a courtroom. Those who do will have the support of us inside it.
  • Yes. Once you reach an agreement in mediation, we draft a Memorandum of Understanding, then convert it into a court-ready Consent Order. The court approves it, and it becomes a legally binding order — fully enforceable.
  • It varies. A straightforward mediated agreement with a consent order can be finalised in 6–10 weeks. A contested case can take many months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline on your first call and update it as the case develops.
